5 Friday Favorites: September 18, 2026
It's time for my Friday link up with A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals.
On Fridays I share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.
Happy Friday, Friends. Shall we address the elephant in the room right off the bat?
Have I recovered from my team coming back from a 20 point deficit in the 4th quarter to beat #1 Ohio State on Saturday night? No, I have not. Am I ready to stop talking about it/thinking about it/scrolling about it? Also, no.
It was the icing on the cake of legitimately one of my favorite weeks of the entire year because I also spent 5 days last week with my High School besties on our annual girls trip at Lake Martin in Alabama. Here’s some information about how Saturday evening went down. These are details that exactly no one has requested. Alas, THIS IS WHO I AM.
Every night we are at Lake Martin - weather permitting - we take a sunset cruise. As the Texas game was set to start right at sunset, we paused the tv before we hopped in the boat. I turned off my phone for the first hour of the game and all my girls promised not to let me in on any updates they might become aware of on their own phones during that period. I guess none of them saw anything because if they had, they might have been inclined to shove me off the boat to save me from the misery I was about to endure. Just take a look at how carefree and full of hope I was whilst my Longhorns were melting down. Easy Breezy.
When we got back to the house I started from the beginning, forwarded through commercials and caught up to the live broadcast by halftime. Which, as you might be aware, was as unenjoyable a time as I have ever had watching a football game.
My buddies were in a room adjacent to me, watching another game, having all manner of fun appetizers and continuing our weekend discussions about pretty much everything that has ever happened in our lives and also, our opinions of everyone we have ever met.
As the 3rd quarter began, I said to myself, “Self, let us consider it all joy when we face trials of many kinds”. I joined my girlfriends and proceeded to eat my sad football feelings via pounds of guacamole and chips. I stole some glances at the tv out of the corner of my eye during the 3rd quarter and the first half of the 4th until lo and behold, I realized that something miraculous was afoot in Austin and made my way back to the tv.
The rest is history as they say. My girlfriends captured my antics which involved sitting in the same chair at the beginning of each play, then assuming various positions including but not limited to covering my face with my hands, hitting my knees, twirling in circles, pacing back and forth and jumping around like a fool. It was the sweetest victory. My word, do I love college football.
But at some point, we have to move on. So let’s try. Here are some other favorite things from the week all courtesy of my best girlfriends.
Monogrammed Zippered Pouch
If you have a girls weekend coming up these cute zippered pouches make a great group gift. They come with a compact mirror as well.
2. Kur Illuminating Nail Concealer
When our topic of discussion turned to the very serious First World issue of how gel manicures were ruining our nails, this nail polish was suggested. One of our gals swears that it is fabulous. While it doesn’t last quite as long as gel polish, it’s a great substitute and keeps your nails strong and healthy.
3.Z Supply Leo Set
One of our gals brought each of us this Leo set from Z Supply. It is the softest, cutest pair of pajamas. The shorts are here. The longsleeve top is here. It is also offered in joggers and a tank. On Friday it rained all day long and the five of us did not change out of our pjs for the entire day and we were not one bit sorry about it.
4.HydraAromatherapy Shower Bursts
These shower bursts are little aromatherapy tablets that you place in a mesh bag and hang in your shower. The steam activates the essential oils and your regular old shower turns into spa heaven.
5.My Forever Squad
We did not stop talking from the time we got together until the time we left each other. Hours of sitting in our pjs. Hours of floating in the lake. Hours of sharing our joys and our heartbreaks, our struggles and our triumphs, our supplement suggestions and our recipe ideas. I promise you that these women are worth more than any spiritual advisor, therapist, comedienne and/or life coach that money could buy. I’m so grateful that they love me for free.
Y’all have a great weekend and Hook Em Horns.
