It's time for my Friday link up with A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals

On Fridays I share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.

Happy Friday, Friends. I’m away for a girls trip this weekend, so I wrote this quickly on Wednesday before I left.

Hope you’ve all had a great start to September. I realize that today is a difficult day for Americans and much more difficult for some than others. If you lost someone on September 11th, please know that I praying for you today. God bless our beautiful country.

Here are some favorites from the week.

  1. College Football Season

We officially kicked off college football season this week by watching all manner of games while we celebrated the long Labor Day Weekend with friends at Lake Anna. I was pretty tapped out by Sunday night so I turned off my phone and went to bed before the Ole Miss v. Louisville game ended. The next morning I woke up to see my family group text notifications:

Let’s just say that the Skinner boys HAVE SOME THOUGHTS about the college football landscape and also, they are not all on the same page.

How in the world can I truly expect a girl to agree to join my family amid this foolishness, y’all? ;-)

If you’ve read here very long though, you know that I actually love this madness with my entire heart. Bring on the text chain arguments, the Game Day hoopla and especially the Texas victories. We’ve got a big one this weekend. I’m gonna need to keep my phone charged.

2. Audible

In full disclosure, I used to think that listening to audiobooks was cheating if you considered yourself an avid reader. I also thought that a spiral perm and shoulder pads were a good idea, so needless to say I used to think a lot of dumb things. Since I am in the car so often lately, listening to audio books on Audible has been a true gift. I also find that housework, walking a stubbornly lazy dog and cooking go by faster with an audio book in my ears. You can sign up for Audible here. It is definitely one of my favorite things.

3.Mad Mabel by Sally Hepworth

Speaking of audiobooks, the most recent one I listened to was Mad Mabel by Australian author, Sally Hepworth. I loved it. If you like a story about a curmudgeon with a little bit of spunk and a big heart (think: A Man Called Ove) you’ll love it, too. The story switches between an 81-year-old woman’s present day and her tragic past, but overall this is a beautiful story of friendship and the gift of community.

4.Cropped Barn Jacket

Anyone remember the barn jackets from the mid-90s to early 2000ish? Well, it looks like they’re back. I saw an adorable cropped barn jacket at a boutique and forgot to get the brand, but I did I little google search and realized they are everywhere now. I like this one from Evereve. There’s a less expensive version here on Amazon, but I’m not sure about those front pockets. Maybe those are for storing the eggs you picked up in the barn?

5.A Little Foreshadowing About My Weekend

This is a little gift that my girls will be getting this weekend. IF YOU KNOW YOU KNOW. Please pray that none of us pulls a hamstring or turns an ankle. Sometimes, depending on what beverage we might find in our cute little tumblers, we forget we’re not 17 anymore.

Y’all have a great weekend and Hook Em Horns.
