5 Friday Favorites: May 22, 2026

It's time for my Friday link up with A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals

On Fridays I share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.

Hello, friends. Thanks so much to all who reached out with kind words about the passing of our friend Rob. It’s been a rough week for a lot of people in our community who are trying to come to terms with such sudden loss. Your continued prayers are appreciated.

Here are some favorite things from a week that served up so not so great moments.

  1. The Author by Brandon Lake and Nick Jonas

This song makes me weep. I’ve listened to it so many times. Beautiful.

2. Tretorn Sneakers (or tennis shoes if you’re from my neck of the woods)

Calling all my 80s gals!! Remember when we wore Tretorns? Anyone? I remember seeing some at Draper James in Nashville a couple of years ago, but came across them again this week at a much lower price. I have heard that Jelly Shoes are coming back which seems like a massive mistake. But these? I’m on board.

3. Palm Print Strapless Maxi Dress

If you’re a person who can wear a strapless bra without becoming filled with rage I think this is such a pretty dress for a summer beach vacation or party. I love how it ties with that cute bow in the back. Alas, I’m not sure I have the emotional constitution for a strapless dress, but maybe you do.

4.The Bodhi Necklace from Park Lane

I think this Bodhi Necklace would look great with that dress or with any other summer top or dress.

5. This Kid is Home

This one came home from college this week. He eats a lot. He makes me laugh a lot. He calls me a nerd when I get answers right on Jeopardy. Which is a lot, if I do say so myself. ;-) He once again drew the short straw and was the only one home when I received the phone call telling me of our friend’s passing. As when my mom died, he was strong and steady. He stayed in the kitchen with me and chatted about life, death, faith, legacy and the hope we have in Jesus.

And I know this. If any of my other guys would’ve been home they would have done the same thing. There is nothing perfect about this life. But there is a lot of good. There is certainly nothing perfect about our family. But there is a lot of good. As life keeps throwing us curveballs as my friend Rob would say, I am so dadgum thankful for my guys. They are a constant reminder to me that even though in this world we will have trouble, our Jesus has overcome the world. Just as He said He would.

Have a blessed weekend.
