5 Friday Favorites: March 13, 2026
It's time for my Friday link up with A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals.
On Fridays I share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.
Hello and happy Friday! If you’re keeping tabs on the unhealthy relationship I have with the weather, I’ll let you know that we are in full dysfunction. Early this week we were enjoying temperatures in the 80s with sunny skies. Yesterday, it was snowing. Hey, March:
Last weekend, when the weather was acting sane, we spent Saturday watching Drew play baseball. It was extra fun because my oldest son, Joe, and my sister-in-law, Cindy, joined us. Oh and also, Mack, our dog, of course. He always has some coaching tips for Drew between games.
We also got some great Mexican food, went to Drew’s church with him on Sunday and of course, took the obligatory selfie.
Here are some other favorite things from the week that do not include my baby boy being old enough to grow that ‘stache.
Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette
I was completely obsessed with the Kennedy family when I was young. Perhaps it was because I was constantly reminded of President Kennedy’s assassination while growing up in Dallas. Every year the Dallas Morning News would have a huge spread about the events of that day and I read every bit of it every year. Then as a teenager along with pretty much every other girl in my generation, I developed a mad crush on JFK Jr. That meant that Love Story was going to be a must-watch for me. I know the creators are taking a huge amount of “artistic license” with this story and that’s really important to remember while watching it. To be honest, it seems kind of callous to say how much I’m enjoying it, but I love it. I think the casting of JFK Jr. and Carolyn is remarkable, the 90s fashion is flawless and the music of that time period is so fun to hear again. But as much as I like it, I think the overall feeling I have when I watch is sadness. What an unbearably sad story.
2. Purador Anti-Thinning Biotin Shampoo & Conditioner
I’ve mentioned the journey my hair follicles and I are on and I know it’s riveting material. For the past several years, I’ve been on a quest to figure out how to stop my hair from thinning, falling out, breaking, etc. This shampoo and conditioner is my latest effort. I started using it a few months ago and maybe - just maybe - I’m seeing less hair loss. To be honest, I’m not really sure. Perhaps, like the Apostle Paul, I will find that this hair issue is the thorn in my flesh that will have to remain, but I’m not giving up yet. Even if it isn’t helping, this shampoo and conditioner smell really good, so there’s that.
3. Set of 3 Loose Fit Tanks
I’m not buying anything new during Lent, but if I was I would have grabbed this set of three tank tops earlier this week because the weather would have tricked me into thinking that it’s time for sleeveless tops. Even if it was a bait and switch situation, these look like they’d also be great for layering under sweaters, hoodies and jackets while we wait for the weather to decide what to do. They come in five different combinations of colors.
4. Set of 3 Oui Earrings
To go with your set of three tanks, here’s a set of three earrings. The Oui earrings from Park Lane are a perfect size and very lightweight.
The set comes with a pair of silver, gold and hematite earrings - all three for only $44. These would be equally great for wearing everyday or for a dressy occasion.
5. The MOM Show Podcast with Courtney Doyle - Episode 201
Life on the Sidelines with Jennifer Skinner(««That’s me, y’all!!)
This week I was so honored to be a guest of Courtney Doyle on her podcast, The MOM Show. We had a wonderful conversation about the ways moms who spend more time in the bleachers than in the pews can begin to feel like we are missing out on God. We discussed how I saw His extraordinary presence showing up in my ordinary days while raising my boys, about allowing Jesus to remove the guilt we carry when we don’t live up to the expectations we’ve created for our families and a little about my upcoming book. I’d love for you to listen and sure would appreciate it if you would share the podcast with anyone you think it might bless. You can listen on Youtube here or on Apple Podcasts here. Also, be sure to check out some of Courtney’s other episodes. They are really helpful for moms at any stage of life.
That’s all for today! Y’all have a great weekend.
