5 Friday Favorites: February 13, 2026

It's time for my Friday link up with A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals

On Fridays I share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.

Happy Friday and drumroll please . . . HAPPY OPENING WEEKEND OF COLLEGE BASEBALL!!! The kid and his team will play on Saturday despite the fact that earlier just last week the field looked more like a hockey rink than a baseball field. Apparently in the Junior year of one’s college baseball career, a player is allowed to smile in the official photo. And all the mommas cheered.

Speaking of the insufferable weather we’ve been having, Steve and I were lucky to escape to Miami for a few days last week. It was glorious to be in 70+ degree weather for a few days and I was so grateful. I think I took about four pictures the entire time. Perhaps that’s because this is the general reaction I get from my husband when I pull out the phone to snap a selfie.

It was actually incredibly beneficial to stay away from my phone for several days. We read books, listened to the waves, ate at some really fun restaurants, drank a fun beverage or two, and walked a path along the ocean everyday.

I must have thanked God a million and one times for creating blue skies, palm trees and the sun. I find these to be a few of the Lord’s very best ideas.

Also, I saw this on Social Media awhile ago. It could not be more true about our marriage.

The one wearing the sunglasses didn’t do a lick of research on restaurants or excursions and had no idea what time the flight left, in which hotel we were staying, or when we were coming back until each bit of information became absolutely necessary. She did know enough to get a new pair of sunglasses at Target before the trip. 31 years of wedded bliss means that for me, ignorance has been bliss for every vacation we’ve ever taken. I guess the lesson for us is if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Here are some other favorites from the week.

  1. The Hallway Miracle By Cara Shine

I was thrilled to find out that my dear friend, Cara Shine’s new memoir is available for pre-order and comes out on March 3rd. Cara is a gem of a human and has the most beautiful story. I highly, highly + a million more highly-es recommend you purchase this book and it’s not just because I love Cara. I read an early copy and it is such a powerful testament to the relentless love of Jesus. I can’t wait to read it again and see what God will do with this powerful testimony.

From the Amazon description:

In The Hallway Miracle, Cara shares a story of personal transformation shaped by early antisemitic bullying and a lifelong wariness of Christians. Years later, she finds herself working at an elementary school as the only Jewish staff member among Christian coworkers, uncertain what genuine faith truly looks like.

Set during the fall of 2002, as sniper attacks bring fear into everyday life across the Washington, D.C., area, the memoir unfolds against a backdrop of heightened anxiety and uncertainty. When a student is killed at a nearby school, the fragile sense of safety disappears.

Blending personal reflection with historical tension, The Hallway Miracle explores anxiety, identity, and faith. Through a small but unexpected moment involving a desk calendar devotional, a handful of M&M's, and a powerful prayer, Cara encounters a moment of grace that reverberates far beyond the hallway where it begins.

Written with honesty and sensitivity, this book will resonate with readers who carry complicated questions about faith and long to see what belief looks like when it is lived out with quiet authenticity.

2. My $12 Sunglasses

I grabbed these cheap sunglasses from Target the day before our trip because I lost my $16 pair in Knoxville. Truth be told, that was my 2nd pair of those sunglasses. Not sure where I lost the first ones. Obviously, I am very irresponsible with my eyewear, so the Target ones were a safe bet. They are on clearance right now.

3. Pixi pH Reactive Lip Gloss

This Friday Favorite recommendation comes from my friend, Heather. She messaged me that she found this lip gloss that is pH activated. The description says it creates an enhanced version of your version of your own lip color making it different on each person. Heather suggested that this might be a nice bridge to wearing a bright color for girls who don’t usually wear bold shades. It’s only $8. (PS Have a Friday Fave rec? I get so excited when readers share what they’re loving. Send me an email!)

4. Your Wings by Lauren Daigle

As much as I love a vacation or a trip home to Texas, I am not a huge fan of flying. I don’t worry about turbulence, crashing, terrorism or anything that normal people worry about, but I’m extremely claustrophobic. Being stuck in a metal tube in the sky is not my favorite thing. I’m getting better at it since I’ve developed a routine which includes a little medical help, lots of friends who pray for me, a husband who always makes sure to book me a seat as close to the front of the plane as possible so I can GET THE HECK OUT OF THERE right away and the amazing voice of Lauren Daigle blasting in my air pods. I don’t think I’ve taken a flight in eight years without listening to her Look Up, Child album throughout the flight. This song is one I play on repeat.

5. Holy Rhythms

I understand that not everyone can escape to a Miami beach to find respite from the cold, dreary winter and the chaotic unrest that is 2026 thus far. I am incredibly grateful that we were able to do that. Sadly, it’s pretty remarkable how quickly the peace and calm can be erased once we leave a vacation. I had to remind myself this week that God is not anymore present when I’m staring at aquamarine water splashing against a pier than when I’m sitting in traffic running late for an appointment.

The following was read at my church’s Wednesday Service this week. I don’t know who the author is, but they are beautiful words on the gift and necessity of adding rest to our rhythms.

For everything there is a season - a rhythm woven into creation by God’s own hand. There is a time to work, to create, to labor with care, and there is a time to stop, to rest, and to be renewed.

God does not call us to endless striving. God gives rest to those He loves - rest not as a reward for productivity, but as a gift of grace.

In a world that urges us to hurry and achieve, we choose a different rhythm. We release our need to prove ourselves. We loosen our grip on what exhausts us. We trust that God is at work even when we pause.

Here, in this moment, we lay down our worries and our weariness. We receive stillness as something holy. We remember that our worth is not measured by what we do, but by who we are - beloved of God.

Teach us, O God, holy rhythms that restore our souls, renew our spirits, and shape our lives in peace.

Have a restful weekend, friends.
