5 Friday Favorites: October 9, 2026
It's time for my Friday link up with A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals.
On Fridays I share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.
Hello! I’m in Dallas for the Red River Rivalry game - the greatest college football rivalry game on the planet, in my not-so-humble opinion. We’ll be spending time with my dad this weekend, eating our weight in Fletcher’s corny dogs and fried-everything at the State Fair of Texas, and cheering on the Texas Longhorns against the Oklahoma Sooners.
As you can imagine, I AM DELIGHTED.
Here’s a look at some of my favorite things from the week.
Short Sleeve Striped Sweater
Early fall is great for a short sleeve sweater and I think this one is so cute. It comes in lots of color options. As it gets cooler it could be layered over a long sleeve tee or button down.
2. American Eagle Low Rise Kick Bootcut Jeans
I’ve been waiting lo so many years for low rise jeans to come back. I know a lot of people embraced the high rise, but this is how I’ve looked wearing that particular style for the past decade.
I guess I’m short-waisted? I don’t know, but it’s been a rather unfortunate period of time for me. This week, I realized that the Lord heard my cry for help because I finally found the jeans of my prayers at American Eagle. The Low Rise Kick Bootcut jeans have a ton of stretch and come in three different colors. As of this writing, they are 30% off. Immeasurably more than a gal could ask or imagine, am I right?
3.What He’s Done
A beautiful song I heard at church last week.
4.Two Strand Necklace from Park Lane Jewelry
I’ve had this necklace from Park Lane for a long time and I love it. It is such a great everyday simple layered necklace. I have the silver but it comes in gold as well. The strands also come apart so you can wear each one separately.
5.I’ve been a Mom for 28 years
Joe, my oldest son, celebrated a birthday this week and as usual I experienced a lot of feelings thinking back to the day he showed up and changed my life. He has taught me exponentially more than I have or will ever teach him.
I’ve written about him so much it’s embarrassing and shameless, but he’s a worthy subject. If you’re looking for some Joe Skinner content today (and really why wouldn’t you be?), I’ve got a lot to offer: here and here and here and here. And about a bazillion other places.
I can’t get over the blessing of this boy and his brothers. God has been way to good to me.
Y’all have a good weekend and Hook Em Horns.
