5 Friday Favorites: January 16, 2026
It's time for my Friday link up with A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals.
On Fridays I share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.
Hello, Friends. It’s been a busy week and I’m firing this off we leave town for the weekend. Steve and I are headed to Knoxville where we’re going to get to see two of our three boys, a bunch of our extended family, a couple of my favorite girls and some college hoops. I can’t wait. Here are some favorite things from this week.
Trouble from The Chosen
I’ve already mentioned how much I love the show The Chosen. Honestly, I went into it thinking it would be cheesy, but I’m not exaggerating when I say it is one of the most compelling things I’ve watched on tv. They played this song at the end of Season 1 and as the kids say, “It’s fire.” (Sorry, kids. You’ll have to stop saying that now, I guess.)
2. Trend Earrings by Park Lane
Park Lane Jewelry released a new spring line this week. I love these simple Trend earrings. They come in silver or gold and are only $44.
3. Ratio Protein Yogurt
Everyone I know can’t stop talking about how to get enough protein. In fact, one of my favorite follows on Instagram, Simon Holland, posted this the other day which made me laugh because AIN’T THAT THE TRUTH.
I’m here to serve, friends. Drew introduced me to this Ratio Protein Yogurt. It is the best yogurt I’ve ever tasted and I don’t even like yogurt that much. It has 25 grams of protein. Now you’ve only got 7,435 grams more to go today.
4. Medicube Collagen Night Wrapping Mask
If you’ve read here long enough you know I’m a sucker for a skin care product and you don’t have to twist my arm too much to talk me into a new one. I’ve had numerous people - ok, like three or four people - reach out to me raving about Korean skin care and specifically, this Medicube brand. They swear by it. I bought the overnight peel off mask and I’ve used it a couple of times. Basically, the description of it promises the moon and the stars which it has not delivered yet, but hope springs eternal. It is very satisfying to peel it off in the morning and at the very least it gave my skin a noticeable glow.
5. Fire by Judy Brown
I am truly, objectively terrible at resting. Not sleeping, but resting. This is not a humble brag that is meant to insinuate that I’m super productive and doing all manner of tasks of great import to keep the world spinning. Lately I have found that while sleeping isn’t a problem, I very little ability to turn my brain off when I’m awake and be still.
I never thought it was that big of a problem, but the Lord has been pretty straight forward with me in the past month or so. I’ve not heard His audible voice or seen a burning bush, but each time I get to the end of the day, I’ve been replaying this in my head.
Then Steve and I joined a small group last week and lo and behold, the topic was rest and retreat. This poem by Judy Brown was shared with the group. Apparently, He’s not playing.
Fire
What makes a fire burn
is space between the logs,
a breathing space.
Too much of a good thing,
too many logs
packed in too tight
can douse the flames
almost as surely
as a pail of water would.
So building fires
requires attention
to the spaces in between,
as much as to the wood.
When we are able to build
open spaces
in the same way
we have learned
to pile on the logs,
then we can come to see how
it is fuel, and absence of the fuel
together, that make fire possible
We only need to lay a log
lightly from time to time.
A fire
grows
simply because the space is there,
with openings
in which the flame
that knows just how it wants to burn
can find its way.
I hope you find the spaces in between this weekend. Thanks for reading.
