5 Friday Favorites: November 14, 2025
It's time for my Friday link up with A Little Bit of Everything and Momfessionals.
On Fridays I share things that made me happy from the week - a photo, a song, a quote, a beauty product, a recipe, a pair of cute shoes, etc. If it's a product, sometimes it's something I actually own and sometimes something I just saw online that gave me a smile. Sometimes it's serious and sometimes it's silly. I suppose I believe that God is in the simple details of life and yes, I can even find Him in a tube of lipstick.
Hello and Happy Friday.
This is coming later than usual today because I usually write most of this on Thursday each week. This week, to be honest, Thursday was hard and words were elusive and I was worn slap out. Sitting at a laptop and writing all day everyday puts a person way inside her head and sometimes she has to break all the way out of there.
So yesterday, I had some real conversations with real people. I had a follow up appointment with a compassionate, smart orthopedist about my neck pain which continues to be um, a literal pain in the neck. She assured me that we are going to figure it out and I burst into tears. Like a weirdo. But she didn’t act like I was weird, so that was cool of her. Then I had the best massage of all time by a woman named Content. I know you don’t believe me, but I promise that is her name and she is magic. Last night Steve and I watched the season finale of The Diplomat. I was in bed by 9:00 pm and I slept in much later than I normally do.
This is riveting information, isn’t it? ;-)
Anyway, the point is sometimes you gotta take a minute, but you always have to make your way back to the work God calls you to. And most of the time the way back starts with recognizing that our ability to persevere in any calling does not come from our own strength, but only from the One who will not ever leave our side. Tim Tebow told me that this morning. See #5.
Here are some other favorite things from the week.
The Snowfall Necklace
I love this icy blue drop necklace called the Snowfall that came out in Park Lane Jewelry’s most recent holiday line. This would be a great gift necklace. Earrings to match are also available.
2. Make Room
We went to visit Drew at school for his birthday last weekend and attended his church with him on Sunday. They sang this song. I had never heard it before and I’ve listened to it about twenty times this week. So beautiful.
3. Atlas Ribbed Vest
I am totally on board with the vest trend. I think this one from Albion Fit is great. I love the green, but it also comes in chestnut and navy. I like it with the button down shirt as shown or with a long sleeve tee.
4. A Pretty Cable Knit Sweater
It is my dream in life to wear a cable knit sweater, but the problem is that my skin is weird about a lot of sweater materials. I thought it was just wool, but I’m not sure I’ve pinpointed the issue exactly.
Please forgive me for burdening you with my epic plight and why, yes, please do add me to your prayer lists and join me in pleading with the Lord to make a way for my sweater ambitions.
Anyway, I ordered this one because it looks so cozy and it’s on sale. I don’t have high expectations, but we’ll see. Also, I hope it’s not as cropped as it looks in the picture because while the wearing of this type of sweater is a dream I hold deep in my heart, I don’t think showing my stomach aligns with God’s will for my life.
5. A Word on Showing Up from Tim Tebow
As I whined about previously, I was really tired this morning so when Steve was reading his morning devotional from Tim Tebow’s Mission Possible devotional, I asked him to read it out loud. He got about two sentences in and we started laughing because there could not have been a more perfect word from the Lord for me this morning.
Here are a few excerpts from today’s entry which is titled, “Keep Showing Up” from Tebow. I highly recommend this book.
Hard days will come. People will try your patience. What you work for won’t happen the way you hoped it would.
Life happens and you’re human. You may grow weary and depleted, drained of all your natural resources, unsure of what you may be able to give anymore, but remember why you are running. Remember your purpose. To keep showing up means going to Jesus exactly as you are allowing His spirit to continually transform you.
Having grit is more than just pressing through in our own strength; it’s relying on the strength that God gives us when we have no more. We are instructed to be firm and immovable in what we do. Remain steady in Jesus. Show up even when it’s the last thing you feel like doing. Allow Him to work through you to do what He has called you to do.
“My beloved brothers and sisters, be firm, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”
-1 Corinthians 15:58
That’s a good word, Mr. Tebow.
Thanks so much for reading. Y’all have a great weekend and keep showing up.
